ABOUT US

NAR MAADA comes from the well-known ancient Chinese philosophy, Yin Yang which is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.
Nar Maada translates into Male and Female in Hindi language.
Started by a brother sister duo in 2020, Nar Maada is a traditionally modern homegrown clothing brand that works on various hand block printing techniques found in India such as Ajrakh, Bagh, Bagru, Dabu, Kalamkari, etc. Nar Maada sources its fabric from different artisans across India.

Our Story
In October 2019, with the help of their tailor, they customised two hand block printed indigo shirts for a trip to Rishikesh. Exactly a year later, after the lockdown, they made a few more for themselves and somehow ended up thinking of starting the brand.
